They are current;y looking for volunteers within the same age group to set up local groups and will provide all the necessary training and resources to help get you started. They will even pay travelling / accomodation costs, so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Well, I had my first pancakes today – yummy! The good news is we will have more on Tuesday too

My slimming journey is going slowly and steady but with no deprivation. (Hence the pancakes and wine tonight). I can certainly recommend Slimming World as worth a try if you enjoy your food and drink.

Back to work. Has anyone got any experience of Productive Community Services? We are about to start it and any advice will be gratefully received!

NMC reviewing current PREP requirements

The NMC are reportedly reviewing the process that currently regulates nurses and midwives and ensures they are registered and fit to practice. SCIE has published a revised version of their Parental mental health and child welfare guide (first published in July 2009). The guide, which is about working with parents who have mental health problems and their children, has been updated to include a new resource Putting it into practice.

The resource reviews the findings from the ten implementation sites across England and Northern Ireland over the past two years. It includes practical examples for making implementation work, highlighting a selection of ‘quick wins’ (low or no cost actions) which can kick start changes. These quick wins include improving communication through lunchtime learning sessions.

Mental health transitions for young people

Adolescence is a period of intense change for young people and a time when mental health problems may emerge or become more severe. SCIE has identified a number of ways in which mental health transitions can improve.

A new guide Mental health service transitions for young people highlights some of the key recommendations for improving transition, as well as the Top 10 principles for practice. These include ensuring young people are fully engaged and understand their mental health problem, treatment and support options, as well as ensuring that young people move to flexible and age appropriate services.
